China's Mobile TV Standard CDMB to Build Industry Base in Tianjin

The workgroup backing China's own-developed mobile TV standard CDMB (China Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) recently proposed an investment totaling US$1 billion in a design and manufacturing base in Tianjin. The workgroup also announced a CDMB trial to be carried out in the metro system of Guangzhou in June. CDMB integrates China's indigenous 3G mobile communications standard TD-SCDMA, DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), and China's homegrown codec AVS (Audio Video Standard). Members of the CDMB alliance include VIA Technologies, ZL Telecom, CEC Wireless, Lenovo Mobile, Amoi, Haier, Bird, and TCL.
